Dr. Edward Greenberg, Interventional Neuroradiologist from Fairfax Radiology, played an important role in the story of a lifesaving little girl and her dad who suffered from a stroke. The heroic tale was recently featured on the local NBC Washington News.
According to NBC’s News 4 Washington, Molly McCabe, 3, saved her dad’s life through modern technology. Trevor McCabe unfortunately had a stroke while his wife, Devon McCabe was at work. Molly found her father and used her father’s phone to Face Time her mother. Devon was busy at work and did not answer the first call. But Molly didn’t give up! She called again and Devon answered. Molly showed her mom images of her father lying on the floor and her mother sent paramedics their way.
Trevor McCabe was treated under the care of Fairfax Radiology’s Interventional Neuroradiologist, Dr. Edward Greenberg, during this life-threatening experience. Dr. Greenberg focused on making sure one of his main arteries in the brain was no longer blocked. He is an expert in the treatment of vascular diseases of the brain, spine, head and neck, as well as minimally invasive treatment of fractures of the spine.
Since time was of the essence, the story highlights how Molly’s quick actions helped save his life. Trevor is recovering and they expect an excellent prognosis.
Response times are CRITICAL for successful stroke treatment. For each 30 minute delay in treatment, patient outcomes worsen by 10%! Recent clinical trials evaluating new treatments for stroke have proven that the procedure called “mechanical thrombectomy” literally saves lives and helps stroke patients recover better and regain functionality. Therefore, it is vital that we have these services readily available in our community.
Fairfax Radiology is the exclusive provider of these stroke services at the largest stroke center in Northern Virginia, Inova Fairfax Hospital. We are available 24/7/365 for stroke treatment in order to serve our patients and our community.
