July is Fibroid Awareness Month. The National Institute of Health states that by age 50, 70% of white women and 80% of black women are diagnosed with uterine fibroids.
We are a proud partner of The White Dress Project and support their mission to promote national awareness about fibroids through education, research and advocacy. Throughout the year, The White Dress Project strives to be a resource for those living with uterine fibroids.
On Saturday July 13, 2019, The White Dress Project held their annual event, A Night in White. This evening is dedicated to support those suffering with symptoms of uterine fibroids, celebrate their resilience and raise financial support for treatment and research. Supporting our local community through sponsorship events like this one is an important part of our practice.
Symptoms of fibroids include heavy bleeding, pelvic pain and pressure, incontinence or frequent urination, lower back pain, painful intercourse, anemia, pain in the back of legs, constipation and enlarged lower abdomen. If you or anyone you know suffers with symptoms of fibroids, numerous treatment options exist. Talk to your physician about the treatment options available.
