Marcus Hannon, an X-ray technologist at Fairfax Radiology’s (FRC) Reston-Herndon Center, has been named ECPI University’s Clinical Instructor of the Year for 2024. Hannon was selected from over 80 clinical instructors who guide students through their 18-month rotations.

“Every graduating class is anonymously polled through a survey to select the clinical instructor they feel provided them with the best educational support, and we are ecstatic to inform you that Marcus Hannon from your Reston-Herndon location was selected as that person,” said Terry Henry, ECPI University Radiography Program Director/CPR Administrator.

Henry, along with Frank Sherf of ECPI’s University Radiography Program, presented Hannon with a commemorative plaque. Hannon’s name will also be added to a plaque displayed on campus. To celebrate this achievement, FRC hosted a luncheon for staff at the Reston-Herndon Center, along with attendees of the award presentation.

“I was surprised to receive this honor,” Hannon said. “It is a full-circle moment because I was a student of Ms. Henry’s when I was in the radiography program more than a decade ago.”

FRC employees are recommended to be clinical instructors by their supervisors and clinical directors.

“I’m very proud of Marcus,” said Mo Ebrat, Reston-Herndon Center Manager. “He is very personable, always willing to help, and obviously does a great job.”

“We cannot be more thrilled at the partnership we have with Fairfax Radiology,” said Henry. “We recently graduated 16 students and believe that at least two of them have accepted positions with FRC.”

ECPI University, based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is a private for-profit university providing undergraduate and graduate education in an accelerated format. The Medical Radiography program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) at its Newport News, Virginia, and Northern Virginia campuses. JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation for the accreditation of traditional and distance delivery educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance, and medical dosimetry.
